House of Life · Mission Ascension
This tells you what happens to the recording you send us, and to the details you send with it. It covers the crowd choir only. It is written to be read, not to be survived.
West End Lottery Ltd and Respect the Egg Ltd are joint data controllers for this project. Between them they decide what is collected and what happens to it, and you can hold either of them to account.
In practice, West End Lottery runs this website, holds the recordings and answers data requests. Respect the Egg produces House of Life and decides how the finished piece is used. It does not matter which of them you contact, your request will be dealt with either way.
Contact for anything to do with your data: hello@westendlottery.com
We do not use face recognition or any other biometric identification on your recording. We do not track you across other websites, and there are no advertising or analytics cookies on this site.
| Purpose | Our lawful basis |
|---|---|
| Edit your recording into the finished piece and show it publicly, online and as part of House of Life at the Edinburgh Festival Fringe | Your consent |
| Email you when the piece is released | Your consent |
| Credit and tag your show on social media | Your consent |
All of it rests on consent, which you gave with the tick boxes on the upload page. You can take that consent back at any time, and you do not have to give a reason.
These are suppliers acting on our instructions only. They are not allowed to use your recording or your details for their own purposes. Data is held in region to confirm. If you want to know who our current suppliers are, ask us and we will tell you.
Your recording is stored in a private location. It cannot be browsed or downloaded by the public, and nobody else who uses this page can see your take or your details.
We do not sell your data. We do not share it for advertising. We will not pass it to another producer or venue.
Reply to your confirmation email, or write to hello@westendlottery.com, and say you want out. If we have not published yet, we will take your recording out of the piece and delete it. If we have already published, we will remove you from any future version and delete the raw file, but we cannot recall copies that are already shared.
Under UK data protection law you can ask us to give you a copy of what we hold, correct it, delete it, restrict what we do with it, or hand it over in a portable form. You can object to how we are using it, and you can withdraw consent whenever you like.
Ask us first, and we will answer within a month. If you are not happy with how we handle it, you can complain to the Information Commissioner's Office at ico.org.uk or on 0303 123 1113.
You need to be 16 or over to send us a recording. By sending one you confirm that you are. We do not knowingly collect anything from under-16s.
If you are a parent or guardian and you think we have a recording of someone under 16, write to hello@westendlottery.com. We will delete the recording and everything attached to it, and take them out of the piece.
If we change anything material we will publish a new version here and change the version number. We record which version was live when you gave consent, so you can always see what you agreed to.
