Mission: Ascension

We’re creating a
communal lullaby.
in four easy steps.

Join us.
01Your starting note

Everyone sings the same note. Tap the egg to hear it, and the guide takes you from there. Tap the cracked one instead if you'd rather make your own harmonies.

Nothing picked yet. Tap an egg.
02Headphones on, listen to the guide track
Two devices, headphones in. If the guide plays out of a speaker your microphone picks it up as well, and the take can't be mixed.
Play the guide on one device with your headphones in. Record yourself on the other device at the same time, singing along as it runs. Watching it through first and singing afterwards will not work: your timing and your melody have to be locked to the track, because that is what lets us stack you with everyone else.

The words

    03Five rules
    1. Headphones in, wired if you have them. Bluetooth adds a delay we can hear and cannot fix.
    2. Clap once, hard, before you sing. That clap is how we line your voice up with everyone else's. No clap, no entry.
    3. Phone upright and propped, about an arm away. Not in your hand. Face a window rather than standing in front of one.
    4. Somewhere soft. A room with curtains, a car, a wardrobe. Anywhere with a hard floor and no furniture will sound like a swimming pool. Extractor fans off.
    5. One take, all the way through. Including the bits you fluff. We would much rather have a wobble in time than a beautiful note in the wrong place.

One more thing, in your camera settings: 1080p is plenty. Once you are one of hundreds it looks identical to 4K, and it uploads in a fraction of the time.

    04Send it over
    Got a show in Edinburgh?

Tag it and we'll tag you back when the piece goes out. Every company in the choir gets credited.

    Choose your take
Video or audio, straight off your phone

By sending a take you confirm you are 16 or over, and that you have read what happens to your recording. West End Lottery Ltd and Respect the Egg Ltd are joint data controllers.
